First Inglot Experience & Haul

As most of you may know, I spent last weekend in NYC. I had to take this opportunity to visit the only Inglot store in the US, there is one an hours train ride away from me in the Westfields Center in London, but I'm sure it would be twice as expensive...

I chose to have one of the makeup artists introduce me to the brand, their products and have my makeup applied and then spend the required $60 on products, similar to the way we spend £25 in MAC for a makeover and then it's redeemable against products you buy.

I made my appointment the night before on my way to seeing Avenue Q, I couldn't get in at 11am when they opened because there would only be one artist in the store, I was told. I thought fair enough and made a 12pm appointment. I woke up the next morning feeling horribly ill as we had had to change rooms in our hotel at 3am because a air conditioner upstairs had burst and our floor and walls were soaked.. another story entirely. I decided to ring up Inglot and change my appointment to later in the afternoon. The phone just rang and rang and rang.. then the answering machine told me it's memory was full. Great. I gave up and decided to just go in later and buy a few things and just ask if someone would mind showing me the products and what works well together.

I got there to find a woman having a heated discussion with the MUA at the counter asking to see the manager over a return that was being denied to her. The MUA told her the manager wasn't taking any calls just then. I got a bit nervous.. what kind of manager doesn't come out from the upstairs office to deal with a complaint? The woman proceeded to turn to me to tell me that "the customer service in here is ******* ****!". Ugh..

So finally the manager comes down.. I don't know what happened but I just got the feeling that the manager and the MUA were really inconvenienced by this woman. To me that's disappointing, whether the customer is actually right or actually wrong is irrelavant, you deal with it and explain to them why you can't do the return or whatever.

I asked if there was any possibility of having the appointment I missed as I had tried to call and no one answered. I think this MUA was having a bad day because she started giving me lip about how she had been there since 10am. She later admitted that the ringer on the phone was off, but she never apologised for her rudeness. I was told I could wait 10 minutes for the current appointment to finish, I actually waited 30 minutes becuase this chick didn't bother to tell the other MUA who was doing the makeup sessions that I was waiting. Is it really that hard a job?! Then the manager started telling me it was $65 plus tax and I was like.. hang on 5 seconds.. I've been told $40, $60 and now $65.. WHICH ONE IS IT?! She finally said it was actually $60 but I had to purchase the makeup before I sat down to have my makeup done.. she's the manager and she can't remember what the price is? Huh?! And I refused to buy the makeup first, I just said "I've never used Inglot and I'd like to figure out the products that suit me first thanks". So far I'm not impressed by the customer service at all.

The actual application was lovely, Sharice was really sweet and kept apologising for everyone else's behaviour. I loved the colours she chose and was really helpful when I went to choose my own colours to buy. Being an idiot I forgot to take a picture of what she did :( it was fairly similar to the FOTN I did for when I went to see Wicked. About half way through my doing my makeup the MUA that had originally served me came over and pulled Sharice aside whispering. Talk about rude. I just about heard something about that my 30 minutes was up. My makeup wasn't even finished. I was about to walk out and just say screw it, I don't want to try your makeup if you're going to treat me like I'm a pain in your ass! But Sharice turned to me and said, "They're saying I have to finish but I'm not done with your makeup so I'm not going to finish". I was pretty impressed by her, she seemed to genuinely care and want me to not get pushed around by her collegues.

So after all that, I purchased a 10 palette and a cream eyeliner.

It sucks that you can't see the numbers of the shadows.. I also got the cream eyeliner in 89. I've got to go online or take it to a store to figure out the numbers though..

The colours have amazing payoff, they're pretty much almost on par with MAC. Not quite, but almost. They blend beautifully and aren't chalky. Swatches to come soon!

Sorry for the rant. Their treatment of their customers had really been bothering me.

Do you have a favourite Inglot product?

50 Follower Giveaway! - Mostly Mysterious Fourth Lot of Goodies! - CLOSED

Yet again I have to apologise for my lateness.. I went out to buy the last lot of goodies and have only been home once to sleep since! I didn't even check my email! This is tiny.. but 2/3 of this I can't show you because it's the winner's mystery prize!
Victoria's Secret Silky Eye Shadow in Champange
Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush Lip Gloss in Slice of Heaven
I'm a little bit obsessed with the smell of VS lippies.. I do love them though, they are my go to handbag quickies for nights out! You can see there is a crack in the eyeshadow. I didn't notice when I picked it up off the shelf but did when we were in the car on the way home. I'm going back tomorrow to get a replacement though!
I'm absolutely itching to reveal my mystery goodies.. they are my absolute favourite non-make up beauty products! I can tell you that it's a brand not sold or easily found in England, I have my lovely Aunt send me products from the US because I can't bear to be without them!! I haven't reviewed them on my blog yet because I didn't want to give the secret away! Any guesses guys and gals?

FOTN Mild Smoky Eye

On Sunday I went to my cousin's house for dinner and wanted to use my new colours from Inglot (full post is on it's way!). I realised I only had my 224 brush as the rest of my makeup was still missing in my bags from NYC. It was a bit of a challenge as the 224 is a blending brush and isn't really designed for applications, but I did my best with what I had!

My camera did some funky thing to my skin in the second one.. I acidentally clicked some weird setting!! But either way it's this gorgeous 'greige' colour paired with this beautiful pinky-pearlescent colour on the lid.. Preeeetttyyy :)

NYC Wicked Tribute FOTN

So as I've said I spent this past weekend in NYC. We got an amazing deal to see Avenue Q for less than half price which meant we could use that extra money we saved to see Wicked!! These are my two favourite West End/Broadway shows, I've already seen both but Ryan had only seen Avenue Q and my mum had only seen Wicked. I decided I had to suit my makeup to the evening just because I'd a tad obsessed with Wicked; I had green Elphaba eyeshadow and pink glossy Galinda lips! Yes blah, blah, blah pink and green don't go together.. but this time I liked it for it's symbolism :)

Here we are prior to the show in the foyer of the theatre at 7.45pm..

Up on the 102nd Floor of the Empire State Building..

And really just to make a point of the staying power of MAC and Inglot Makeup, here we are on the 86th Floor Balcony at 2.00am..

I'm not kidding when I say I didn't touch up once. Not even powder or lipgloss. I genuinely didn't have time. So that's over 6 hours of wear.. I'm pretty damn impressed!

After 6 hours of wear this is only a touch smudged!

I wore:
Benefit YouRebel SPF15 Tinted Moisturiser
MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Medium
NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo in Orgasm/Laguna
Inglot Eyeshadows (I'll have to update with the exact colours)
Duo Lash Adhesive
MAC #7 Lashes
MAC Lipstick in Pink Nouveau
MAC Cremesheen Glass in Loud & Lovely

And bonus.. no staining! Just one wipe with remover and I was makeup free!

Quick FOTD

Being me, I forgot to take a picture of this this morning :( and also being me, I couldn't find my UDPP. So this is pretty rubbish and smudged after 8 hours of wear. But I thought I'd show you anyway because I like the colours.

I was going for a smokey crease with a lighter lid, and it worked when I did it. But since I've been working over hot water all afternoon the steam has made the colours bleed together. Blegh.. this looked nice this morning. I should have some fun looks, a HOTD and some interesting pics tomorrow :)

FOTD - Lashes Without Liner

Today was a bad day, I woke up to find that somehow my MAC palette that holds my highlighters had fallen off the shelf, broken it's clasp that holds it closed and smashed four of the shadows. I am not a happy bunny. I managed to sort and save most of the pieces, anyone know how to 're-pot' (lol?) or press the shadows back into place. If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be very much appreciated!

Anyway, Happy June everyone!!
This was from 2 days ago, and I just did quick makeup for work. I had lashes in mind when I did this because I've received several emails from my lovely readers asking about using liquid/kohl liner when applying false lashes. So, this FOTD was really to prove you don't necessarily need eye liner. Yes, it can make the look cleaner and it does give you something to aim for, but you CAN apply lashes without it.

Face
Rimmel London Lasting Finish Foundation in 201 Classic Beige
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Medium (Powder)
MAC Blushcreme in Ladyblush
MAC Creme Colour Base in Hush
Eyes
MAC Shroom Eyeshadow
MAC #7 Lashes
MAC Plush Lash in Plushblack
  MAC Eye Brows in Lingering
Lips
MAC Frost Lipstick in Angel

When placed properly and blended with mascara, false lashes can be worn with a more natural look.

To be totally honest, I would wear smaller lashes (like MAC #31s) if I was actually going to do this as a day look, but I just wanted to emphasize my point!

So, anybody up for the challenge of lashes without liner?

MAC To The Beach Haul

I love this collection, I had to wait until I got paid to get some bits and bobs but now here they are!

Life's A Breeze Lip Pencil
(Sorrry for the blurry picture, my camera was being stupid)
I really love this lip pencil. It's the perfect colour to compliment so many pink lipsticks. It looks really good with Viva Glam Gaga, Creme Cup and Lazy Day.

 Easy Lounger Lipglass
This is a really good way to spice up a pink lipstick, without having to buy a different shade of gloss for each one. It's sheer enough to suit all light pinks, but gives the perfect amount of shine and shimmer for use in the day and at night.

Lazy Day Lustre Lipstick
This is another really gorgeous pink from MAC's lipstick collection. It's more of a subtle pink thank most, but I like that. Perfect for work!

Life's A Breeze - Lazy Day - Easy Lounger

Sweet & Punchy and Humid Eyeshadows
 Humid - Sweet & Punchy

I really want to go back and get the other eyeshadows, they're all really pretty. I have Shimmermoss already, so I won't be buying that one, but I really want the other two. I just got these two today, and I really wanted Float On By Eye Kohl to go with them, but I need to budget still!

LUSH and drugstore hauls later!

So Finally...

I'm not a stupid.. well not for the reason I thought. My MAC bag was hiding in my Jane Norman bag. So finally.. here is my Technique Haul!

First up is my frost lipstick in Angel. I love this lipstick because it's a deeper pink than the others I have, so I think it's great for when I don't want to draw so much attention to my lips. I think it's one of those "better-than-my-natural-lips" colours. I don't think the swatch actually reflects this colour completely, my camera isn't behaving.

So I also have this thing now, about buying a gloss to go with my lipsticks. I forget to take a picture of the box, but I got a Lustreglass in Morning Glory. It's a beautiful glistening gloss with tiny microparticles of shimmer. This would look amazing on the lips on it's own, or used to highlight a lipstick. Again, the swatch doesn't do it justice, I'll have to swatch it on my lips to show you it's true colour.

Frost Lipstick in Angel, Lustreglass in Morning Glory

One of the products recommended by Bex (who is a Trainer for MAC) was brown mascara as it is a way to show off your own eyelashes without overpowering a natural look. Paired with Shroom eyeshadow I think brown mascara looks sooooo beautiful. I chose Plush Lash in Brownette.

Plush Lash in Brownette
You can't truly see the colour here since the brush is black, look on the wand and you can just about see it.

Finally, I had to pick up some #7's. I've been wondering whether I really wanted that style of lash, but one of the counter artists suggested them to me and I thought, why not? I'm really glad I tried them, they really open up your eyes and give you that 'doe-eyed' look.

I'll have to take a pic with them on to show you guys. Anyone else have a particular set of lashes they just love? I really want to try the Foxy Locks ones too.

Super Exciteeddd...

I think I've been a stupid. I think I left my MAC bag from the Technique Workshop in my mom's car. And of course she's out so I can't look lol. So I though I'd just update you guys on what I'm expecting from Mr. Post Man in the next few days :)

Shortly I'll be completing my collection on NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils collection. After which I'll do a full swatch and look post.

I also finally got my hands on two eyeshadows from the MAC Alexander McQueen collection, Pagan and Haunting! I've been trying to find these at a decent price for a really long time, I know you can buy them at MAC normally, but I really wanted the Alexander McQueen versions. Considering they would have been (I think?) £11.00 to buy from the collection, I got Pagan at £11.99 and Haunting at £12.99 and I think these are pretty decent prices. I'm actually a little shocked at how low these prices were for a LE collection.

I got all my NYX Jumbo's and these shadows from Love Makeup, they have really fast service and delievery, they're my first choice for budget buys or discontinued LE's.

Soooo as soon as I figure out where my MAC bag is.. I'll share all. I'm not a happy bunny right now :(

Sleek Blues & Purples

Hey girls!

So I finally found a Superdrug that stocked Sleek! It only took me searching four shops!! I chose the Original, Sunset and Acid Palettes because I wanted to get three of them and I though that combination had the greatest variety. So far I am most impressed with the pigmentation of the blues and purples.. I'm inspired! And I'm getting really pissed off with my skin not letting me do nice makeup! Hopefully only one more day! But back to the palettes.. Here are my favourite shades so far:

Sunset Palette Sea Blue; Original Palette Seafoam Blue & Aqua Blue;Acid Palette Light Blue & Dark Blue

Original Palette Purple Shimmer; Acid Palette Matte Purple & Pink-Purple

I just think they're so pretty!

I also love the green shades.. Haven't had time to swatch them yet to see what I really think but if they're as good as these I'm in love.

As usual please forgive the photo quality.. my new camera arrived today so hopefully this will be one of the last posts with the rubbish phone camera!

xoxo
p.s. I'm headed to Disneyland Paris for my Birthday tomorrow morning (yay!) at some crazy hour. I don't know if I can get internet there (anyone stayed at the Disneyland Hotel?) so if I don't post or comment from now until next Wednesday, you all know why!
